Laminate wood flooring is made from composite wood pressed together at high temperatures. The image of hardwood is then placed over the composite wood, covering it to form the laminate.

Since laminate is made from pressed wood, it is more durable and resists scratches, moisture and wear and tear. However Laminate doesn’t repair easily. Depending on sunlight and age, the replacement piece may not match properly.

The wear layer of a laminate floor protects the material from stains and some spills making cleaning and maintenance relatively easy. Sweeping or vacuuming of the floor to remove dirt can slowly erode the floors wear layer over time.
